— New Media Arts

We discussed the theory that a person’s responsibilities as an artist may be separate from a person’s responsibilities as a citizen. On that subject:

The documentary Never Sorry about artist Ai Weiwei will be showing Monday night on PBS:

Carol Becker has written a great deal on the subject of art and ethics. Here is an article, and you might find more information at the school library:

A review of the I Am Crime exhibition in San Francisco:

There is a great book by Carlo McCormick about many forms of street art. It is not in the library but you can find it on Amazon:

Robert suggested some animated videos after class, this one uses some of the animation techniques that were discussed:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYAixjN9BQg

With a computer application like Flash, After Effects, or Motion, an animator can combine layers of images and move them around, resize, rotate etc. over time instead of redrawing the entire picture for each frame.

If anyone is transferring iMovie files between the computer lab and your own mac at home, take a look at this suggestion. It looks like the preferred method is to move projects around within iMovie’s built-in file browser. That way it is able to keep all of the associated files together:

There are also some tutorial videos here for any features that we did not cover in the class demonstration:
